The Timelord
Time is such an interesting concept, the lord of time thought in his frozen instance of time. For mortals such as those he was surrounded by time seemed infinitely long yet in their lives incredibly short. Time always seemed to drag on when one did not want it to, but to be impossibly short in every other situation. It was interesting watching some mortals waste time away, while others used every second to what they saw as the fullest. He chuckled thinking back on the millions he had watched over their lifetimes.
Still time was not nearly as stable as it used to be. He watched as some of the people seemed to distort in frozen time and smirked. Right on time. He slowly rose sighing. Anomalies had begun to appear across the timeline, anomalies made to shatter time through a paradox. Today one of those paradoxes would happen once more. A young scientist was on his way to work, having just discovered the cure to an epidemic that was washing over this world. Or maybe he had not yet but would soon? The timelord frowned having forgotten what exact moment he was in, just knowing his task. The anomaly had taken the form of a nearby gang, one that had been dormant for years going for a drive by. Needless to say, they would kill the scientist if not saved. Of course, others were at risk too, and he would need to keep them safe to protect the timeline as much as possible. Every error was another ripple in time that would have to be forcibly fixed. He calmly got up heading into position as time began to move.
The thugs began to all get into their vehicle, loading their weaponry. The lord wondered what this anomaly had exactly changed in these men to make them go feral, but didn’t have much time as the car began to move. He began to count down to when the bullets would start to fly, before slowing time just in time. He chuckled at his own little joke before moving calmly. The bullets went to him slowly as he caught each, pocketing them, ignoring the panicked crowds behind him screaming in slow motion. This was almost too easy. He paused as he grabbed his tenth bullet. Too easy…why did he feel he was missing something. He closed his eyes focusing on the timeline to see what would change, before his eyes shot up. He turned around finding another gang member on the other side of the street had just opened fire. He grunted. He wouldn’t be fast enough to stop time needing a few seconds, and he wouldn’t make it like this.
He began to think before having an idea. He took out a bullet he pocketed getting it stuck in time the same way he was and flicked it, the bullet flying forward and collided with the first round the gang member had fired. He proceeded to do so for every round, barely making it each time. However one of the rounds was too close, giving the scientist a scar on his cheek making him wince. An error in the timeline. He would need to fix that later, but for now kept working. With no more issues the gang members left and he went grabbing all the evidence. These gang members weren’t supposed to be in jail, and evidence would lead to them being sent there.
The timelord sighed looking at his work gladly. Minor changes, but nothing the timeline couldn’t fix. With that he let time resume ignoring the chaos. He had more work to do later in this timeline but once more he enjoyed the current one, relaxing and experiencing time like these mortals.
